9035 new eligible voters enrolled in Bandipora after Special Summary Revision: DEO Bandipora

Bandipora, Feb 13: District Election Officer (DEO) Bandipora, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Wednesday said that 9035 new eligible voters have been enrolled during special summary revisions in the district.
While addressing a press conference in Bandipora, Dr Choudhary said that during an extensive summary revision, 9035 new eligible voters were enrolled in the district including 4165 males and 4870 females.
He said after the deletions of voters who have expired in past few years or migrated from the district, the net addition was 4790 taking the total electors of the district to 231283 including 120042 males and 111241 females.
DEO Bandipora said that aim of conducting summary revisions is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out so that democracy reaches to grass root level so that more and more people take part in the democratic process. He expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of recent municipal and panchayat elections and lauded the role of the officers in ensuring peaceful atmosphere during the elections. He urged the youngsters to know the strength of their vote and make a statement by using their vote.
While appealing the left out voters to enroll themselves in the electoral list, Dr Choudhary said the government has established a toll free helpline number 1950 and if anyone has any grievance regarding the electoral process, may call on this number.
He said currently the Election Cell is working on capacity building and trainings are being imparted to various stakeholders with regard to EVM/VVPAT including to the Anganwari workers, Asha workers, Media persons, political workers and parties, campus ambassadors and Booth Awareness Groups.
