Governor Malik tickles politicians

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik stating that he is also the Chief Minister of the state has ruffled the political parties in the Valley.
National Conference issued a strong worded statement on Monday and castigated Governor Malik for claiming to be the Chief Minister of the state. NC spokesman said that by issuing such statements Governor Malik wants to prolong the President’s rule in the state. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti also criticized Governor Malik for issuing a political statement and stated that Governor is crossing his brief.
Since the day Governor Malik has taken over the reins of the state he has been tickling the politicians in Kashmir. Soon after the militancy broke out in the state in 1990, the state was placed under President’s rule from 1990 to 1996. Since then only retired bureaucrats or retired Army Generals were sent to J&K as Governors. These people rarely used to talk or issue any statement but the BJP led NDA government reversed the trend by appointing a politician as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. In fact Governor Malik has taken the J&K politicians head on. Since the day he has assumed charge he has tried to convey to the people who have ruled the state that they are just simple politicians and nothing more. The other point which he has driven home is that the local politicians cannot cross the line and have no authority to talk about the foreign affairs of the country and nor can they compel Centre to follow their advice.
In fact he has put the mainstream leaders in a tight spot by telling the masses that they have no mandate to resolve Kashmir. His blunt attacks on the political parties are giving tough time to politicians.
