DEO Anantnag reviews measures for ‘Minimum Facilities at Polling Stations’

Anantnag, Feb 12: District Election Officer (DC), Mohammad Younis Malik today chaired a meeting of officers of Education Department, PHE, PDD and R&B to review the availability of minimum facilities with regard to ramps, sanitation, power supply and drinking water supply in 714 polling stations of the district.
He directed the Principals, ZEOs and Headmasters of Educational Institutions to ensure availability of minimum facilities. He also stressed upon the engineers of PDD, PHE and R&B to submit the project for supply of drinking water facilities, power connections at the locations.
Threadbare discussions were held with the Principals, ZEOs on the availability of furnishing /furniture in the schools. They were also directed to coordinate with the SE’s of PDD Hydraulic, R&B and Nodal Officer SVEEP with regard to the availability of minimum facilities.
An awareness cum training programme under SVEEP was also held in which the all Principals of GDCs of Anantnag, Principals of GHSSs and ZEOs participated.
On the occasion Nodal Officer SVEEP Anantnag detailed about the importance of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) for the forthcoming Elections. He said that awareness programmes regarding the use of EVM and VVPAT machines for the voting are being organised in every nook and corner of the district to sensitize the voters regarding these new kind of voting machines, so that voters could cast their votes with confidence and without any confusion. The technical features of the machines were also displayed during the awareness programme.
The master trainers presented a demo of the EVM and VVPAT machines in front of the participants to aware and acquaint them about the functioning of EVM and VVPAT machine for the free, fair and transparent voting.
