Incomplete projects

The development projects which were to be completed in Kashmir have missed several deadlines and are still pending but on the other hand many development projects in Jammu region have been completed long ago.
According to media reports many projects in Kashmir costing a total of Rs 34,416 crore appear nowhere near completion due to poor execution and mismanagement.
A big question which everyone wants to ask is why no attention has been paid towards the development projects which had to be completed in Kashmir. The Srinagar-Jammu railway line project which could have connected Kashmir with the other states has not been completed for the past 25- years. The project was sanctioned in 1995.
From 2015 to 2018 when PDP-BJP coalition ruled the state development came to a grinding halt in the Valley. Despite PDP sharing power with the ruling party it couldn’t do much to get the work expedited on the pending projects. Centre kept on telling the J&K government that funds are getting lapsed and it should pull up its socks but nothing happened. On the other hand BJP ministers and leaders ensured that the work in Jammu region continues and the development keeps on taking place so that they can approach the voters with something to show.
Of the 11 projects under the PMDP in the Kashmir region, only three are off the ground. None of the other projects have seen any significant progress.
This time Jammu and Kashmir is directly under the Centre’s rule and it can play an effective role to expedite the work on the development projects which have been lingering on for the past so many years. Incomplete projects in Kashmir have put question mark over the competence of the departments entrusted with the job to develop the Valley.
