Forces conduct CASO in Shopian, 9 persons detained in Pulwama

Srinagar, Feb 5: Security forces on Tuesday conducted Cordoned and Search Operation (CASO) in Shopian while nine suspected stone pelters were detained in Pulwama in south Kashmir, official sources said.
They said on a tip off about the presence of militants, troops of Rashitriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint CASO at village Sugan, Shopian, early Tuesday morning. All exit points were sealed and later house to house searches were conducted, they said adding however, no one was arrested. Later, security forces called off operation.
Meanwhile, security forces conducted raids at villages Arihal and Arigam in Pulwama district late last night. During the raids nine suspected stone pelters were arrested, they said adding they are being questioned.
Eight persons were injured after security forces fired pellets and burst teargas shells to disperse demonstrators who were trying to disrupt CASO at Tarigam in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Monday. However, no contact was established with the militants and operation was later called off.
Clashes between demonstrators and security forces continued throughout the day in which nine person received pellet injures who were later hospitalized.
