30th Road Safety Week: Awareness rally on road safety held at Sumbal

Bandipora, Feb 5: An awareness rally on road safety was today organised by ARTO here at Sumbal wherein students from various schools participated.
The students were carrying placards with slogans appealing people to follow road safety rules to avoid accidents.
The programme was organized in connection with 30th Road Safety week being observed from 4th February to 10th February 2019.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari addressed the students and said that the aim of celebrating the week is to sensitize the people especially the drivers about road safety and follow traffic norms to minimize the accidents. He said it is collective responsibility of all to encourage others to follow safety rules while driving.
ARTO Moazam Ali said that department is organizing several activities during the week including awareness camps, medical camps for drivers, awareness rallies, painting and slogan making competition and walkathons through which the people will be sensitized about the road safety.
He urged the people to follow safety rules and use seat belts while driving, helmets while riding a bike, avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving beside following other road safety rules for their own and others safety.
Later, a medical check-up camp was held for drivers at Bismillah Sumo Stand Sumbal.
