Only NC can propel state towards development: Tanveer

Srinagar, Feb 4: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Sunday sought a strong mandate of people to propel the state towards development saying that development and reconciliation have been the prime causalities of former BJP-PDP government.
Political Advisor to vice president JKNC, Tanveer Sadiq while addressing a workers convention at Zadibal constituency said, “Development was the primary casualty of the former PDP-BJP regime. The former regime with their imprudent steps has left thousands of families associated with handicraft in suffering,” he said.
“In Srinagar, in particular the Shahar-Khaas area, thousands of families are associated with the traditional handicraft business. The lack of any initiative by former BJP-PDP government had already pushed the people associated with handicrafts to wall. However the final blow came in the shape of application of GST to Kashmir. BJP-PDP is answerable to these thousands of families for snatching their sole source of income,” he said.
Tanveer, while appreciating the local artisans for carrying the legacy of their forefathers no withstanding the bleak fiscal prospects said, “Naya Kashmir manifesto of National Conference highlights providing support to the small, marginal and handicraft sector of the state,” he said adding, “National conference when in government left no stone unturned in lending helping hand to the handicraft sector of our state. However the successive BJP-PDP government and the incumbent governor administration shut its eyes and ears to the mounting woes of our artisans community,” he said.
Tanveer while highlighting the need for fiscal support to handicraft sector said, “The NC is alive to the difficulties faced by our artisan and other marginal traders and once in power, we will ensure the ease of doing business and early mitigation of problems faced by our artisans due to new GST regime. We will ensure assistance in brand building as well.”
Tanveer said while referring to the deteriorated condition of Khushal, Gilsar and Anchar lakes said, “Dr. Farooq sb recently raised a query about the restoration efforts of central government towards ensuring that the city lakes are restored to their glory, however the central government while answering to his query said the centre has not received any proposal by the state government in this direction. This speaks volumes about the laid-back attitude the former PDP-BJP was beset with.”
“Once in power, the NC led government will undertake that the city lakes are restored to their glory,” he said.
Tanveer said that people of the state have seen the wrongs committed by the former BJP-PDP regime with their eyes. “People have already made their mind to give a thumping majority to NC to sweep the cobwebs of underdevelopment, insecurity that has beset the state,” he said. (KNS)
