Youth Parliament held in Boys Degree College Kupwara

Srinagar, Jan 28: Youth parliament was held on Monday in Boys Degree College Kupwara in which the students of Degree College Handwara and Kupwara participated.
The students on the occasion shared their views n topics including ‘India sets global narratives on terrorism, India sets global narratives on Economic Offenders, India sets global narratives on Climate Change and Khelo India: A gateway for budding sportspersons and Best time for Indian sportspersons top make a mark’.
The jury members on the occasion were District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara Khalid Jahangir, Ex-MLA Kupwara Bashir Ahmad Dar, Executive Editor KNS Shabir Malik, Principal Degree College Sogam and Retired Prof F M Shaiq.
The parliament called Voice of youth between the age group of 18-25 years who can vote but can’t stand as a representative was the first such programme on district level, which will be followed by National level programme.
The aim of this parliament was to obtain and document their opinions on vision of New India 2020, to develop in them and understanding that respect for rules is essential for conducting any discussion and effectively systematically, to develop and enhance decision making abilities, to develop in them a respect and tolerance for the views of others.
Meanwhile, the first position was bagged by a student from Women’s Degree College Kupwara while second and third positions were bagged by two students from Degree College Handwara. All the three positions were bagged by girl students. (KNS)
