Disaster management preparedness reviewed at Anantnag

Anantnag, Jan 23: The District Development Commissioner Mohammad Younis Malik, today chaired a meeting of district officers, engineers of I&FC, PHE, and SDRF to review the disaster management preparedness, particularly in the snow avalanche prone areas.
The ADC, Anantnag, ParvaizSajad informed the meeting that Disaster Management Emergency Operations Centre at Sarnal has been made functional with necessary requirements and Rs 10 lakh has been released for the procurement of necessary equipments.
The DDC directed the concerned officers to ensure linkage of the EOC with Sub-Division Levels. He also directed for ensuring videoconference facilities in the EOC. He further instructed for mapping of vulnerable snow avalanche prone areas so as to ease the rescue and relief operations.
The meeting was also informed that Disaster Management Centres have been setup at 06 designated places on National Highway which include at Lower Munda, Baderagund, Check-I-Wagund, Toll post, Levdora and Qazigund.
The AD F&CS informed the meeting that 20 Qtls. Of rice, 2 Qtl. Sugar and 500 Litres of K.Oil have been stocked on each Disaster Management Centre on National Highway to meet any eventuality and to help the stranded passengers/truck drivers.
The meeting among others was also attended by concerned district and sectoral officers and engineers.
