Leopard kills over eight sheep in Karnah village

Karnah, Jan 21: A leopard on Monday killed over eight sheep in Sangri Nowa Gabra village of Tehsil Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Reports said the leopard entered into an animal shed belonging to Abdul Rasheed, son of Mangta Khatana in Sangri Nowa Gabra Karnah and killed six sheep yesterday night.
In a similar incident, in nearby hamlet of Sangri Nowa Gabra village where two sheep were killed by leopard who were belonging to Khaleel-ur-Rehman.
Abdul Rasheed the owner of sheep said, “There were over hundred sheep and goat in the shed when Leopard entered there. After hearing cries, I rushed to shed and found sheep dead.”
Villagers of this remote hamlet appealed to the wildlife department to depute a team to capture the leopard to stop any major incident. (KNS)
