PDP in deep trouble

PDP in deep trouble
  • 1

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik recently stated that all the political parties barring Peoples Democratic Party want assembly elections to be held early.
The PDP wants elections to be delayed for obvious reasons as the party knows it very well that it’s the only party which has lost the ground by entering into an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party. The PDP knows that if the Election Commission of India decides to hold the assembly polls along with the parliamentary polls in the state it would help NC and other parties.
BJP did not lose anything by entering into an alliance with PDP as the constituency of the saffron party is safe and intact. By pulling out from the PDP led government BJP scored a point over PDP.
All the political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have gone into election mode and are trying to woo the voters. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is spearheading the campaign for her party as it seems that she has been left alone and the prominent leaders who could have campaigned along with her have already deserted the PDP. She knows that if elections are delayed it would provide her with a chance to go back to people and tell them that she committed a mistake by joining hands with the BJP.
If the assembly elections are held along with the parliamentary polls in the state it would be a loss for the PDP. Possibilities about the PDP being a part of the next government in J&K look bleak that’s probably one of the reasons that the former MLAs, who could win the forthcoming assembly elections from their respective constituencies, have deserted the PDP and moved towards the green pastures.
