2 Govt officials among 6 held for forgery in Anantnag

Anantnag, Jan 11: Six persons including two officials of the Litigation Section of Deputy Commissioner’s office were arrested for forging the signatures of the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag.
Police arrested Mukhtar Abass Khan Litigation officer and Mushtaq Ahmad Khan a Class 4th employee in Deputy Commissioner Anantnag’s office and four others.
On the communication of DC Anantnag to SSP Anantnag regarding a case of suspected forgery, a case was registered U/S 467,420 of the RPC in police station Anantnag. The investigation has been entrusted to DySP HQ’s Anantnag and so far 6 persons have been arrested in the instant case and further investigations is on.
During investigations names of four more people surfaced in the case and they have been arrested.
It is pertinent to mention here the files were sent to the Divisional Commissioner’s office in Srinagar for approval.
However, Divisional Commissioner after smelling something fishy sought presence of the DC Anantnag and the later denied having sent these files to former’s office for approval.
These files were pertaining to appointment of family members of 15 persons whose 80-90 percent land had been shown acquired by the Railways.
