Former DSP Liyaqat Ali khan joins National Conference
Srinagar, Jan 9: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Wednesday asserted that the denotation of coalition has proved detrimental to state’s interests and that pro-people spirit of National Conference with Omar Abdullah in forefront will sweep away the cobwebs of developmental stupor in state.
Addressing a party convention at Langate, District President Kupwara and MLC Qaisar Jamsheed Lone said that National Conference has always been a scorn in the eye of such forces as are hell bent to destroy state’s identity. “However National Conference owing to its deep rooted character has trounced such forces with the active support of people. We as a party draw our sustenance from people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said adding current times are no different and that political out fits, which draw their sustenance from RSS are again creeping around and that National Conference won’t allow such forces to barter state’s interests.
Welcoming former DSP Liyaqat Ali khan into National Conference, Qaisar said, “It is a gratifying to have Liyaqat Sahab into our fold. The party will indeed benefit from his experience in public service.”
“Young Kashmiris are craving for safe spaces, good life. The energy of our youth will allow Omar Abdullah to push past the culture of Under-performance, Corruption, Nepotism, of former BJP-PDP coalition. The pro-people spirit of National Conference with Omar Abdullah in vanguard will pursue the policy of reconciliation and development” he said.
Liyaqat Ali khan while speaking on the occasion said that people are yearning for good governance. “Posterity will never forgive PDP for the havoc it unleashed in our state, Kashmir in particular. Masses have unflinching faith in Omar Abdullah and strongly believe that only Omar can salvage them from despondency to opulence,” he said.
Qaisar maintained that the doors of party are open for all those who want to strengthen the Special status of the state. “After PDP allied with BJP, it lost its individuality. Nepotism and corruption was institutionalized by PDP, when in government. No gimmickry can absolve PDP of the dubious role it played in destroying state and its interests,” he said.
He said that National Conference will provide welfare cushion for state’s poor. “Our party will protect the state from the onslaught of RSS and its henchmen with the active support of people. We should work hard and maintain discipline amongst ourselves,” he said.
