India, Pak armies exchange fire along LoC in Poonch, Kupwara

Poonch, Jan 9: Indian and Pakistan armies exchanged small arms fire and heavy shells along the Line of Control in Poonch and Kupwara districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials sources said that the exchange of fire and the shells started in Gulpur sector in the district at around 9 a.m. in the morning and was continuing intermittently when this report was filed
A defence ministry official here said that Pak initiated the “unprovoked CFV by Small Arms Fire & also shelling with heavy caliber weapons in Gulpur Sector”. “Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively,” he said. However, there were no immediate reports about the loss to anyone in the incident so far.
Meanwhile, sources said that Pakistan army today at around 10:30 am attacked army’s Balbir Post in Ferkiyan sector of Kupwara district. The soldiers manning the fence responded effectively leading to cross border shelling which continued till 11:15 am.
However, in the incident no one suffered injuries, they said. (GNS)
