Mian Altaf demands immediate release of contractors’ payments

Jammu, Jan 3: Senior National Conference leader and former Member Legislative Assembly Kangan, Mian Altaf Ahmed has sought immediate release of the pending payments to the contractors who have worked during the Amarnath Yatra period in Baltal base camp.
In a statement, Mian Altaf said that the contractors most of those who had worked and undertaken various construction works for Public works department (PWD) during the Amarnath Yatra period in Baltal base camp of Ganderbal district have still not been given the payments.
Expressing anguish over the delay in release of the payments to the contractors, the NC leader has asked government to release the pending payments of the contractors immediately.
He criticized the government for withholding payments in crores of rupees due to the contractors which has resulted in their huge losses besides hampering their normal works besides the contractors who have taken loan from banks are unable to repay it.
Altaf said that he has written to the Governor Jammu and Kashmir and Chief Secretary about the issue.
Altaf urged the government to look into the issue and release payments to the contractors without any further delay so that the contractors can undertake the works during the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra without any issue. (KNS)
