DC Shopian reviews winter preparedness

Shopian, Jan 3: District Development Commissioner Shopian Dr Owais Ahmed today convened a meeting of officers and engineers to review the action plan regarding snow clearance and stock and supply position of food grains in the district
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD, Mechanical Engineering, AEE R&B, and Executive Officer Municipal Committee, officials of FCS&CA, and other concerned officers and officials.
The meeting was informed that men and machinery have been kept ready to meet any eventuality. It was given out that a control room has been established and snow-clearance machinery has been kept in a position of readiness. It was revealed that 1345 quintals of sugar and 33400 quintals of rice have been dumped in advance for three months at 111 Sale centres in the district.
The District Development Commissioner directed the PHE, PDD authorities for creating a proper mechanism to ensure services as per the schedule. The health department was directed to ensure proper sanitation measures in and around the health institutions and adequate stock of medicines for the winter months.
DDC further directed the concerned officers to activate the control room and equip with adequate manpower to cater to the needs of the general public. He sought close coordination among different departments for snow clearance operation and prompt response to meet out any emergency during approaching months.
