Normal life remains crippled for 4th day in Pulwama

Srinagar, Dec 31: Normal life remained crippled for the fourth successive day in south Kashmir district of Pulwama against killing of five militants in two separate encounters since Friday.
A police spokesperson said that there were no restrictions in any part of Pulwama though security forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to prevent protests.
However, shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads in Pulwama town and adjoining areas. But, some private vehicles could be seen plying on some interior roads.
Security forces have been deployed along the Srinagar-Jammu national highway to prevent protests and ensure smooth movement of traffic.
Reports of normalcy was coming from other south Kashmir districts — Kulgam, Anantnag and Shopian.
Life came to a grinding halt in Pulwama on Friday, when a militant was killed in an encounter with security forces at Rinzipora Banderpora, Awantipora in Pulwama. On Saturday, four militants were killed an encounter with security forces at Ban Hanjan Payeen Rajpora in Pulwama.
