Funeral prayers in absentia held for Pulwama slain across Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 18: Funeral prayers in absentia were offered at a number of places for the seven civilians and three militants killed in Sirno village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Joint Resistance Leadership had appealed people to offer funeral prayers in absentia for 7 civilians and 3 militants after Zuhar Prayers on Tuesday.
Funeral prayers in absentia were offered at Masjid Hamzah (RA) Amira Kadal Srinagar. Number of activists from Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and All Parties Hurriyat Conference participated in these prayers.
Funeral prayers were also offered outside historic Jamia Masjid. Shortly after the culmination of funeral prayers, people raised pro-freedom slogans and demanded end to blood- shed in Kashmir.
Reports from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district said that scores of people offered funeral in absentia for the slain Pulwama civilians and militants killed on Saturday during a gunfight with government forces in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Funeral prayers in absentia were also offered at number of places across Kashmir Valley.
On December 15 (Saturday) seven civilians, three militants and a soldier were killed in gunfight and clashes in Sirno Pulwam. The slain civilians included Tawseef Ahmad of Urchersoo, Liyaqat Dar of Parigam, Suhail Ahmad of Ballow, Shahbaaz of Monghama, Pulwama, Amir Ahmad Paul of Ashminder, Murtaza Bashir and Abid Hussain Lone of Kareemabad, an MBA pass out from Indonesia. Three slain militants were identified as Zahoor Ahmed Thokar, Tahir Hizbi and Hashim Ahmed. (CNS)
