Srinagar, Dec 12: Normal life remained crippled for the fourth successive day on Wednesday in Hajin town and adjoining areas in north Kashmir district of Bandipora against the killing of two local militants in an encounter with security forces at Mujgund in Srinagar outskirts on Sunday.
Even though there was no strike call given by any separatist group, shops and business establishments were closed and traffic was off the roads in Hajin town and adjoining areas. However, some private vehicles were plying on few interior routes.
Two local militants, including a 14-year-old boy and 17-year-old boy, were killed in an 18-hour-long encounter with security forces at Mujgund on Srinagar outskirts on Sunday. A foreigner militant was also killed in the gunfight.
Meanwhile, several people were on Monday injured when security forces burst teargas shells and resorted to aerial firing to disperse demonstrators at Hajin, protesting after the funeral of two minor militants.
