Srinagar, Dec 7: National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah on Friday lashed out at the Utter Pradesh government for announcing compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the kins of a deceased man, who has been accused of pelting stones on police during clashes in Bulandshahrb on December 3.
Two people, including a police officer, were killed during violent clashes over alleged cow slaughter in Bulandshahr in UP on Monday. However, reports alleged that the deceased, identified as Sumit, was part of a mob which pelted stones on a police party, which was investigating an alleged cow slaughter in Bulandshahr.
Responding to a tweet which read, “All hell would have broken loose if the J&K government had announced a 10 lakh rupees compensation to a stone pelter’s family in the valley,” Mr Abdullah said and that too after the stone pelters had killed an officer of the security forces using his own service weapon!
“In Kashmir people who kill cops and snatch weapons are called terrorists. In UP the ruling party will fete & eulogise these killers as heroes,” Abdullah, who is the former chief minister of the state, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Upping the ante at the Adityanath-led BJP government over reports that the murdered Police official’s family travels from Bulandshahr to the UP CM’s residence in Lucknow to see him, the NC Vice President said ‘thank goodness we have more respect for the families of our police officers and jawans when they lay down their lives in the line of duty’.
