Hilal War, Javaid Mir acquitted in 20-year-old case

Srinagar, Nov 30: PPP Chief Hilal Ahmad War and JKLF (J) Chairman Javaid Ahmad Mir on Friday said that they have been acquitted in a 20-year-old case.
In a joint press release, War and Mir said that District Court Srinagar on Friday acquitted them and several others in the case.
The leaders said that they were charged with waging war against the state and challenging the writ of the state.
“The court acquits us in one case and the state administration is ready with another. The state administration, at the behest of New Delhi, frames us and employs trumped up charges against us which is often a far cry from reality,” said War, according to the press release.
“New Delhi and the State have perennially been using the judiciary as a weapon against the peace-loving resistance leadership and the aim is to bully and silence us,” said Javaid Mir.
War, Mir and others were represented by senior advocate Zahoor Qureshi, Advocate Ajaz Ahmad Dar and Advocate Urfee as defence lawyers, said the release.
