ICPS organizes capacity building workshop on Juvenile Justice Act

Jammu, Nov 28: Integrated Child Protection Services (ICPS) Department in collaboration with Save the Children (NGO) inaugurated a capacity building workshop on Juvenile Justice Act here today.
The programme was attended by officials from ICPS, Child Welfare Community, Juvenile Justice Board, State Child Protection Society, DCUP’s, and other concerned.
The training programme shall be held all over the state to update officials about JJ Act and ICPS and to provide technical support to the challenges faced by them on the ground.
During the session, Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Chairman Selection-Cum-Oversight Committee (SCOC), shared his experience and challenges at the field level. He said that the newly recruited officials have to play their due role and highlighted the need for coordination so that JJ system is smoothly implemented at the ground level.
G.A Sofi, Mission Director ICPS, said that government, civil society and NGOs would have to work together for the betterment of the children and society as a whole. “The fundamental approach of our work should provide Happy Childhood to children of our State and rigorously work towards it,” he added.
Dr. Rouf Mohidin, Member (SCOC), said that “our staff members are our strength; it is through them that we can reach the most marginalized children in the State.”
General Manager Save the Children, Sharif Bhat, emphasized the need for creating mass awareness about the JJ Act and ICPS. He said, “We all should work in the best interest of the children and that should be our focus.”
