Taxi Hijack: Punjab Police visits Jammu, questions taxi operators

Jammu, Nov 15: Against the backdrop of hijacking of a taxi by four unidentified men in Madhopur, a team of Punjab Police on Thursday visited Jammu Railway Station and questioned the taxi operators.
The hijackers pertinently hired the taxi from Jammu Railway Station for Pathankot but on reaching Madhopur, they beat the driver and fled away with the taxi.
“A team of Punjab Police this afternoon reached Jammu as a part of investigation,” police here said.
They said that they also questioned the taxi operators and scrutinised the records.
Alert was sounded in Pathankot-Kathua regions on Punjab-J&K border, after four persons hijacked a taxi on gun point in Madhopur on Wednesday.
However, security has been tightened on Jammu-Pathankot national highway while additional check points are also raised.
