Street lights defunct in Kupwara town from last one Year

Kupwara, Nov 16: Though the authorities claim to have restored and installed many streetlights in the Kupwara Town from years. The residents of several areas said that the maximum of the street lights are lying defunct in their respective areas from last one year.
Residents of Kupwara town said that the streetlights installed in the area by the Power Department and Kupwara Municipal Committee (KMC) were not functioning.
A delegation from the area said that some of the lights have gone out of order and the concerned officials have failed to replace them.
“A streetlight or roadside lights in our Town is not working for the past many months, yet nobody from the KMC has visited the area to replace it. In absence of streetlights we are not able to go to Masjid in evening and morning,” said Malikzada Umar Farooq a social worker.
“The Town residents appealed the KMC to depute a team for replacing the lights in the market and also in our streets.”
