Kulgam, Nov 8: The Residents of Kund valley, Brinal Lamer in south Kashmir’s Kulgam staged a protest against Horticulture Department claiming that the officials never visited the area to take stock of the losses due to the recent snowfall.
The residents while speaking to Precious Kashmir alleged that due to snowfall orchards in the area have suffered a massive damaged, but no one has visited the area to take the stock of damage.
The residents appealed the Governor and district administration for debt relief for orchadists who have suffered huge losses and urged to give one-time exemption in the recovery of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans Due to huge losses.
“Farmers are not in a position to repay their loans raised against their farming land and orchards,” Ab Rahman Tantary, an orchardist told Precious Kashmir
There is a need to arrange a one-time waiver on a specified amount of KCC in favour of those farmers and agriculturists who are not in a position to purchase fertilizers and pesticides for their farms and orchards, the farmers said.
