Junaid Mattu elected as Srinagar Mayor

Srinagar, Nov 6: Former spokesman of National Conference Junaid Mattu, who contested the recently held Urban Local Bodies polls, as an independent candidate, was  elected Srinagar Mayor with support from BJP, Peoples Conference.
Mattu had quit the National Conference to contest the urban local body polls. Mattu secured 40 votes while Congress candidate for the mayoral post Ghulam Rasool Hajam got 26 votes in the 74-member SMC, Commissioner of the civic body Peer Hafizullah told a wire agency.
