Excise Dept seizes 450 kg fukki at Lakhanpur

Srinagar, Nov 4: Continuing with its drive against smugglers, the Excise Department foiled another major attempt of smuggling at toll post Lakhanpur.
An official statement issued said the vigilant officials of Excise Department at Toll Post Lakhanpur foiled a major attempt of smuggling out from State when they detected a consignment of approximately 450 kg poppy husk (Bhukki) in a vehicle bearing registration number JK03B-4481 declaring fresh fruit as goods.
The whole operation was supervised by Ashish Kumar Gupta, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur and carried out by Excise and Taxation Officers Sandeep Gupta, Aamir Ayaiz Rather, Varinder Pawar along with a team of Excise Inspectors Rajesh Verma, Amit Sharma, Mansoor Ahmed, Dheeraj Kumar and Mohd Saleem Malik, Excise Sub-Inspectors Susheel Sharma, Manvinder Pal Singh, Sheikh Touseef and Ravi Kumar, and Excise Guard Mohd Iqbal, the statement said.
Excise Commissioner, J&K Government Talat Parvez Rohella appreciated the efforts of team of Toll Post Lakhanpur in detecting the instant contraband item and enjoined them to work with more zeal and enthusiasm and to carry out more such special drives in future to thwart the nefarious design of smugglers.
