The state government employees who were promised one month additional salary for giving the poll duty are waiting for the government to issue a formal order in this regard.
On September 25, the Governor’s administration had announced the incentive for its employees discharging election duties. One month’s salary was announced by Chief Secretary B.V.R. Subrahmanyam as a bonus to employees deputed for election duty.
Now the ULB polls are over even the results have been declared. But employees are still wondering whether they would get the promised incentive or not.
According the media reports Finance department is yet to issue any order related to the disbursement of one-month additional salary to the government employees who discharged their duties during these elections.
Many employees are of the opinion that they put their lives at stake and discharged their duties in extremely hostile situation. They are hoping that they would get the bonus which was promised to them. But media reports claim that Finance department has not received any instructions from the top till date.
There are speculations that the Government has forgotten about it’s promise to provide one month extra salary to the employees. Another factor which has added to the confusion is that the employees for poll duty were drawn from different departments. And no instructions have been passed to the concerned departments as yet.
There are many issues like even if the government keeps up its word then who would disburse these extra salaries and who would be the authorized drawing and disbursing officers.
Governor’s administration should issue a formal order to grant one month advance salary to the employees so that they could be motivated to come forward and discharge their duties during the forthcoming Panchayat polls also.
