Srinagar, Oct 21: The Joint Resistance Leadership has termed the killing of civilians as a carnage which shows that Kashmir has been turned into a slaughter house.
In a statement here on Sunday immediately after the news about the killing of civilians spread like a wild fire, the JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said “Kashmir has been turned into a slaughter house where no young, old, child or women is safe. Indian tyranny and oppression has crossed every limit now and Kashmiris cannot tolerate this silently anymore. Kashmiris will observe a total strike against Kulgam carnage and other oppressive measures on Monday 22nd October 2018 while as on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 people along with JRL leadership will march to Lal chowk and hold a protest sit-in. Also to highlight Indian aggression against unarmed civilians in Kashmir, JRL is preparing a memorandum to United Nations secretary general.”
Meanwhile, Kashmir Economic Alliance Chairperson (KEA) Muhammad Yaseen Khan on Sunday strongly condemned the killings in south Kashmir’s Kulgam.
Blaming government forces for carrying “planned massacre” in state, KTMF president termed it “sheer cowardice and inhuman act”.
Khan said, “our youth are being slaughtered like animals as Government of India refuses to give up its policy of repression and acknowledge that people of Kashmir will not yield to submission”. He said entire Valley is in shock and state of mourning by the Killing of almost seven civilians in Kulgam.
Extending full support to the JRL’s shutdown call for Monday, Khan said whole business community of valley is with the people of Kulgam in this hour of grief. “This is an attempt to scare the people but let the government understand that we are a resilient nation,” he said and appealed international community, Asia Watch and organisations for human rights to take cognizance of deteriorating gruesome situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
