Congress wins civic polls in Bandipora, Hajin, Leh, Anantnag

Srinagar, Oct 20: The Congress party has swept he Bandipora civic elections, winning 12 out of 17 wards in the town. BJP has won 3 and independent candidates have won 2 wards in the town.
Meanwhile, independent candidates won from  8 wards out of 13 and Congress from five in Sumbal Municipality. Pertinently Congress candidates had won all the wards in Hajin township unopposed. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party faced a drubbing in Leh after Congress won all the 13 wards of the Municipal Committee Leh. Officials said that Congress swept all the wards while BJP did not open account at all.
Congress party won 20 wards of Anantnag municipal committee as counting ended. Officials said that out of 25 wards, Congress won 20 wards. They said three wards have been secured by BJP while 2 have gone to independents. 240 votes were cast in 16 wards of the council while the rest wards remained uncontested.
