Residents of Kupwara, Baramulla up arms against PDD for unscheduled power cuts

Srinagar, Oct 18: Residents of north Kashmir’s Kupwara and Baramulla districts are up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) as they are facing unscheduled power cuts.
Residents of Kupwara and its outskirts said that the PDD doesn’t adhere to the schedule due to which the students preparing for examination are facing hardships,” they added.
“When PDD installed meters in our area we were told that we would get power supply round the clock, but their promises turned out to be a hoax,” residents said.
The situation in un-metered and remote villages of Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora and valley Lolab is no different are facing acute power shortage.
In Drugmulla, Vodhpora, Muhgalpora, power supplied from Arampora grid station is disrupted after every half an hour. “PDD resorts to continuous power cuts,” locals of Kupwara said.
Residents of Hajin, Sopore and other areas of north Kashmir complained that power plays hide and seek and during night hours the supply goes off for hours together.
“Unscheduled power cuts have become order of the day and students are the worst sufferers” said Faizan Ahmad.(PTK)
