JKPA demands an impartial probe

Srinagar, Oct 18: Jammu Kashmir Press Association (JKPA) has condemned assault on Journalists and Photojournalists at Fateh Kadal, where they had gone to cover the happenings at the encounter site.
According to reports, a large number of reporters and photojournalists had rushed to the scene of encounter site in the heart of the City of Srinagar on Wednesday, 17th October, 2018 to cover the details of the gunfight. While they were recording the details of the encounter, they were allegedly roughed up by the men in uniform which is highly deplorable. It is all the more disgusting to notice that the Journalists were attacked in presence of the senior officers of the Police Department. This establishes beyond any shadow of doubt that the men in uniform consider themselves above Law and have the license to beat, harass and kill anybody without any accountability.
Therefore, the Jammu Kashmir Press Association demands an impartial probe into the gory assault as it is an attack on fourth estate which calls for severe punishment to the culprits so that there is no such recurrence of attack on the fourth pillar of democracy in future. (KNS)
