Srinagar, Oct 12: Security forces burst teargas shells to disperse demonstrators, who were trying to disrupt Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) launched by forces in south Kashmir district of Shopian on Friday.
Official sources said that following specific information about presence of militants, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation at village Nadigam in Shopian on Friday.
However, when security forces were sealing the area, protestors, including youth and women, hit the streets and started shouting slogans. Security forces deployed in the area swung into action and tried to stop the demonstrators from moving ahead.
As the protestors didn’t back down, security forces burst teargas shells to disperse the demonstrators, who pelted stones.
