Death of fishes in Lolab pond Fisheries department clarifies

Srinagar, Oct 11: Fisheries department Thursday issued clarification regarding the death of fishes in Lolab pond.
Fisheries department in a statement, said “the water harvesting tank is under the control of irrigation and flood control department. As a routine practice this pond has been stocked with fish seed of common carp and subsequently put to auction along with other ponds under the supervision of central auction committee of the fisheries department. The successful bidder has already extracted the fish from the said pond and some left over fishes had died due to low water level and pollution of the pond. There were no trout fish in this water which requires continuous water supply round the clock.”
