Hundreds of trout fishes found dead in Lolab pond

Kupwara, Oct 10: Locals are anguished over the death of fishes in the pond of Diver village of Lolab area in Kupwara district.
According to the locals, hundreds of fishes were found dead in the pond water, which had apparently turned dirty. The anguished people held the Departments of PHE and Fisheries responsible for the death of hundreds of fishes.
While elaborating, the locals further informed that hundreds of fishes died from past three days in a pond situated at Ganie Mohalla Diver Lolab. Administration is well aware about the death of fishes but they not took any serious step to investigate that how they died, even not an officer made visit to the pond where hundreds of fishes are lying on the banks of pond. “We think some poison has been sprayed in the pond due to which fishes died in the pond” they said
Locals appealed SDM Lolab to take some serious measure in order to save the thousands of trout fishes in the pond.
When contacted SDM Lolab Ahmed Hussain said that he will look into the matter.
