Daily wagers pushed to edge

Daily wagers pushed to edge

Demands of nearly 60,000 daily wagers are still pending. They have been waiting to get regularized but till date the orders have not been issued. The former PDP-BJP government had announced that all these daily wagers would be regularized but the sudden fall of the erstwhile regime led to the process coming to a halt.
Soon after the PDP-BJP government announced that daily wagers would be regularized, speculations started making rounds that both the parties want to appoint their workers through backdoor for the political gains.
The decisions vis-à-vis making appointments which were taken by the previous regime have come under scanner. The daily wagers have been demanding that the promises which were made to them should be fulfilled so that they don’t have to struggle to sustain.
The Governor’s administration should look into the matter and see to it that the genuine daily wagers don not suffer and they are regularized. There are thousands of people working in different departments for the years together hoping that one day they would get regularized and they would be able to at least sustain.
Issue of the daily wagers is a humanitarian issue it needs to be sorted out as it touches the skin of 60,000 families. This issue has been politicized by all the regimes which came into power. One hopes that this issue resolved at the earliest and the daily wagers get much needed respite.
Continuous protests by these workers have affected the functioning of the official machinery in the state. These daily wagers are the ground workers and cannot be ignored their issues should be resolved at the earliest.
