Lolab, Oct 3: The people of Krusan area of this north Kashmir district have complained about the electric wires that are seen hanging on trees.
The residents of Krusan, Shah Mohalla, Dharmawari and other villages of Lolab Krusan said that the hanging of electric wires on tree branches pose a serious threat to their life and property.
“Most of the timber poles installed in the area decades ago have been damaged and the power development department (PDD) officials instead of installing new poles have installed the wires on trees. This shows the callous attitude of authorities,” they said.
The locals said they have approached PDD officials several times to install iron or cement poles in the area but to no avail.
“The threat increases whenever it rains as branches fall on electric wires. This gives rise to a dangerous situation and we are more worried about our children who are not aware of the need for precautions near electricity wires,” they said. “At many places, wires are seen hanging within the reach of hands.”
The residents have appealed to authorities to install the cement or iron poles in the areas at the earliest so as to avoid any mishap.
