Srinagar, Oct 2: The employees of the Department of Public Health Engineering (PHE) on Tuesday held a massive protest demonstration in Srinagar.
The protesting employees were demanding the release of long pending salaries.
Hundreds of the protesting employees including their children assembled at Partap Park near press colony and registered their protest. The employees were protesting under the banner of Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association.
“By holding our salaries the government has made us suffer on daily basis,” said protesting employees. The departments have been protesting against the delay in their salaries from the past many months. “But nobody is concerned about it,” they said.
The protestors threatened to intensify protests in case their demand is not met forthwith.
“Our wages have been withheld for past 21 months. We are at the verge of starvation. Our children have been asked at the schools to clear fee or else sit at home,” they said.
Kashmir PHE joint employees’ association president Sajad Ahmad Parray accused the authorities of acting indifferent to their plight.
