Both laid to rest at their ancestral villages
Kupwara, Sep 24: Two revenue officials died and another suffered critical injuries in a road accident in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday late night.
Police said a maruti car bearing registration number (JK02AJ-2977) in which three revenue officials were travelling from Machil to Kupwara fell into a deep gorge near Z-gali on Kupwara-Machil road while negotiating a blind curve.
They said two persons identified as Aijaz Ahmed Dar (driver) resident of Sogam Lolab and Syed Nayeem Andrabi of Kanthpora Lolab died on the spot while another identified as Farooq Ahmed resident of Thayan Kalaroose suffered critical injuries.
Station House officer (SHO) Kalaroose Bashir Ahmed said over phone said that the injured were immediately shifted to SDH hospital Kupwara where from doctors shifted him to Srinagar Hospital where according to doctors the condition of him is stated to be critical.
“The bodies were handed over to relatives of deceased’s after medical-legal formalities” SHO said. The trio was designated as Patwaries in J&K revenue Department and were posted at Tehsil Machil.
Meanwhile, a pale of gloom was descended in Lolab valley after the bodies of deceased reached to their native villages and thousands of people attended their funeral prayers including top revenue officials. The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir also visited to bereaved families and expressed deep sorrow over this unfortunate accident and expressed his condolences for the departed and heartfelt sympathies for the bereaved families. He interacted with the family members of the deceased and assured them all possible support from the district administration. Police has registered a case in this regard.
