After allotting two tenders, R&B Deptt leaves work on Warpora-Audoora road midway

Langate, Sep 17: The Roads and Buildings (R&B) department of Jammu & Kashmir Government has left the soling work of Warpora-Audoora ping wader road midway in Langate area of frontier district Kupwara leaving the residents on the commencement of apple harvesting season fuming.
A legion of aggrieved residents said that after the Rural Development Department undertook the work cutting under NREGA scheme, the R&B department took up the work of the road, allotted two tenders to local contractors worth Rs. 4.50 lakhs and 3.85 lakhs last and this year respectively but left the work in the mid-way after laying the boulders all along the road. Before the construction was taken by R&B department people would walk on foot to reach the apple orchards but after the laying the boulders on the road without doing soling and macadamisation work the people don’t even dare to walk on foot on this dumpy road that too on the commencement of the apple harvesting season likely to pickup in coming days.
The residents have threatened to takeout protests and stage demonstrations on Handwara-Mawer road and block the traffic till the time R&B authorities resume the work and assure its completion in short time. (KNS)
