One of the rebel leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party Javed Hussain Baig returning to the party fold is an indication that efforts to put the new dispensation at place have not materialized.
Former Minister and senior PDP leader Imran Raza Ansari, who along with his uncle Abid Raza Ansari had raised the banner of revolt against the party president Mehbooba Mufti, seem to have gone into a silent mode. Soon after saying goodbye to PDP Imran Ansari had created a notion that a major junk of the PDP leaders is with him. But the notion stands dispelled as its clear that he has been unable to get the requisite number of the legislators on board.
Emerging situation has made it clear that there is no possibility about the government being formed in the coming days as the entire focus of the central and the state government has shifted to municipal and urban local bodies elections.
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti is aware about the fact that still she has to do lot of work to save her party from the split as everything has not been sorted out yet. The MLAs have taken the PDP leadership head on by challenging the “Family Raaj” system. Mehbooba has sidelined her family members including her brother, uncle and a cousin to make the rebels join the party fold. Till now only Javed Beigh, who is the nephew of the PDP stalwart and Member Parlaiment Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, seems to have buried the hatchet and moved forward. Now it remains to be seen whether other rebels would follow the suit or would prefer to maintain the distance. But one thing is for sure that Imran Ansari has been left in lurch and he would have to look for options to keep himself afloat at the political arena of the Valley.
