Calls India to come up with roadmap to resolveKashmir issue
Srinagar, Sep 11 ): Independent legislator and Chairman of Awami Ittihad Party (AIP) Er Rashid on Tuesday called upon the government of India to come up with a roadmap to resolve Kashmir issue instead of fiddling with Article-35A and harassing resistance leadership.
“We are not against the conduct of elections but the government of India must show sincerity. Instead of arresting Salahuddin’s sons, harassing resistance leadership and fiddling with Article-35A, the government of India must come on the table and tell us the alternative to referendum,” Rashid told reporters after meeting Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers, who are on indefinite hunger strike from September 3.
Reports reaching news gathering agency Global News Service (GNS) said that Rashid said that the Kashmiri leadership would welcome government of India if they come up with any genuine solution to the Kashmir issue.
Rashid said that the assault on Article-35A was a big conspiracy hatched to stab Kashmiri people in the back. He said no political party should participate in elections until India comes up with a roadmap to resolve Kashmir issue.
“I am thankful to Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah, who by announcing poll boycott has conveyed to India that we are not its daily wagers,” he said.
The independent legislator from north Kashmir’s Langate constituency said that he was the first person to announce the boycott of municipal and local bodies’ polls in the state.
Er Rashid also condemned the killings by unidentified gunmen. He said it was the responsibility of government to ensure safety and security of the people.
“We don’t coffin of militants, soldiers, or civilians reach their homes. The government should tell us what its agencies are doing,” he said. (GNS)
