Train service remains suspended in south Kashmir for security reasons

Srinagar, Sep 9: Train service remained suspended for the second day on Sunday for security reasons in south Kashmir, where a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was killed in a brief encounter in Anantnag district yesterday.
However, trains were running normally as per schedule in north Kashmir, a railway official said Sunday morning.
He said a fresh advisory was received to suspend train service in south Kashmir for security reasons. There was apprehension of trouble as the LeT militant killed was a resident of Yaripora, Kulgam yesterday.
He said therefore, no train will chug for the second day today on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region.
Train service has become very popular in the valley as it is being considered cheap, fast and safe against other mode of transport service.
