Students stuck in Thajwas Glacier rescued: Police


Srinagar, Sep 7: Two students trapped at Thajiwas glacier in Sonamarg resort of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district were rescued by the police late last night.
Station House Officer, police station Sonamarg, Manzoor Ahmed Mir said that few students of KIE higher secondary school from Lasjan Srinagar who were on a picnic to Sonamarg had trekked to Thajiwas glacier.
He said two students were left stranded on the glacier. “We launched a rescue operation and rescued the two students who were stranded there late last night,” he said.
He said that both the students – Shahid Ahmad Lone, resident of Arigam Pulwama and Naveed Ahmad Khan, resident of Munat Yaripora Kulgam – had received minor injuries and were given medical aid at primary health centre Sonamarg. (PTK)
