Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) chief M Kodandaram on Monday said that the public meeting by the TRS at the outskirts of Hyderabad on Sunday was not a show of strength, but rather seemed like a farewell speech by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.“The lack of response from the people in Telangana to come to the meeting and the way KCR spoke, all reflected as if it was office relieving ceremony i.e. outgoing government’s function. This is what happens when a chief minister stops meeting people and closes doors on the public by confining himself to the lavish Pragati Bhavan,” Kodandaram was quoted as saying.Dubbing it a ‘flop’, Kodandaram also criticised the misuse of official machinery for the meeting and said that many supporters seemed like they had come for a picnic. Accusing KCR of building up the meeting and creating the expectation that big political announcements were about to happen, Kodandaram also said that there seemed to be no mention of ‘pragathi’ (development) in the Chief Minister’s speech. The TJS chief also said that their party had already formed committees for 50 Assembly constituencies and would finish the process for all 119 seats soon. Meanwhile, the Congress also continued to lash out at the TRS on Monday. Describing the public meeting held by TRS as a gathering of drunkards, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Spokesperson Dr. Sravan Dasoju said that the much hyped ‘Pragathi Nivedana Sabha’ has proved to be a ‘super flop show’ by the ruling party.Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Sravan said that as against the tall claims made by TRS of participation of 25 lakh people, not even 5 lakh people attended the meeting. Stating that it was ‘much ado about nothing’, Sravan showed some video clips which went viral on social media of TRS workers and other participants consuming alcohol while coming to the meeting venue.
