Missing weapon of policeman recovered during searches in Poonch

Jammu, Sep 4: Police have recovered the missing automatic AK weapon during intensive search operation launched in Shanker Nagar area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The weapon went missing from DPL Poonch a few days ago and was of a police constable posted in DPL Poonch.
“Investigation into the matter was started and it was suspected that someone might have kept the weapon, different teams conducted searches in more than one hundred such blind spots and other suspected locations in and around Poonch town,” a senior police official said on Tuesday.
He added that on Monday night, a search operation was launched and locations in Shanker Nagar locality were being put to searches when cops entered a Nallah, where the missing AK weapon was found kept hidden.
“The weapon was seized and after continuing operation in the area for some hours, it was called off this morning,” he added.
The officer said that police is now investigating the matter as how the said weapon went missing.
“The cop whose weapon went missing was already placed under suspension,” he added.
