DC Kargil reviews flood preparedness, response plans

Kargil, Sep 4: A meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority Kargil was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC, Kargil, Vikas Kundal here today to review the flood preparedness and response plans.
Superintendent of Police, Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues including preparation of plans with regard to resource inventory of all item including men and machinery available in Government and Public or Private sector, mapping of areas vulnerable to floods, constituting of rescue teams, trained and providing of proper equipments, constituting of SDRF, availability of Army, Police, Para Military Force, Fire and Emergency service, Forest Protection Force, trained volunteers from community, Home Guards, Civil Defence NYK, NSS, NCC, Scouts and their merging with the rescue teams and their roles defined, plans for dewatering pumps and plans for clearing chocked drains in the flood prone areas.
Addressing the meeting, the Dy Commissioner asked the concerned to work with utmost dedication and update the flood preparedness and response plans immediately and furnish the same for scrutiny so that the same could be forwarded to the concerned quarters for further necessary action.
