Workshop on ‘Post NAS Activities’ concludes

Jammu, Aug 31: A five-day Workshop on Post NAS Activities and Demonstration of Science and Mathematics Kits organised by SIE Jammu concluded today
Sponsored by Directorate of Samagra Shiksha J&K, the workshop was held in multiple sessions and attended by Chief Education Officers, Principal DIETs and Zonal Education Officers (Aug 27) of Jammu Division, followed by Principals of Higher Secondary Schools (Aug 28 & 29) and Master Trainers in Science & Mathematics Subjects (Aug 30 and 31).
The main objective of the workshop was to discuss the findings of NAS National Achievement Survey viz-a-viz performance of students of Jammu and Kashmir and to brainstorm and think upon the pedagogical interventions to improve the overall teaching learning scenario of the state.
It is pertinent to mention that the National Achievement Survey 2017 was conducted in terms of Learning Outcomes rather than content and is different from earlier surveys in the sense that NCERT New Delhi under the aegis of MHRD GOI is planning post NAS intervention to improve the education system throughout the country especially at Elementary Level.
Dr. Satya Bhushan, Dr Vishal Pajankar, Prof A.K. Wazlwar and Dr Ashish Shriwastav from NCERT New Delhi were the resource persons who had sessions on NAS District and State Report Cards, Demonstration on operation of Science and Mathematics Kits developed by NCERT and had interactive session with the participants. Deepak Sharma Research Officer SIE Jammu, co-ordinator NAS presented vote of thanks on the conclusion of the workshop.
