Srinagar, Aug 31: A woman leader of Bharatiya Janata Party Priya Jalral has leveled serious allegations against the top party leaders. She has alleged that only those woman leaders are given the party positions who “listen” to the BJP leaders.
“Genuine female workers are feeling suffocated and ignored because party leaders are projecting only those women to whom they call in hotels,” Jalral alleged.
An analyst while talking to Precious Kashmir said, “It’s a serious allegation and party leaders cannot just brush it aside. A woman leader has gone public and has accused the BJP leaders of exploiting the women folk.”
The top BJP leaders are tightlipped about the issue but the fact is that she has opened a Pandora’s box. “BJP always talks about beti bachao and equal rights for the women but the woman leader has exposed the party by leveling serious allegations against the party leaders,” the analyst added.
A politician said that BJP high command should take a note of the allegations leveled by a woman leader and get this matter probed. “It’s a huge embarrassment for the party which swears by discipline and claims that it’s the only party where women are given equal rights,” he added.
A BJP leader, who wished not to be named, said that the woman leader raising a banner of revolt and indicting the male BJP leaders is a serious issue and has maligned the “clean image” of the party. “The top BJP leaders of the state unit would try their best to push the matter under the carpet as they know it very well that matter can snowball into a major controversy. The woman leader who has leveled these serious allegations should identify the leaders who call the woman leaders and activists to the hotels. Party needs to identify the black sheep so that they don’t get a chance to play with the credibility of the party,” he added.
A woman activist said that the woman BJP leader who has leveled these allegations should not succumb and raise her voice against the exploitation of the women folk. “The state president of the BJP Ravinder Raina has been put in a tight spot and he cannot just runaway. When the woman leader trained guns at the BJP leaders during a function in Jammu, Raina and other senior leaders ignored her. They cannot act like dictators and muzzle the voices of dissent. The least one can expect from them is that they should listen,” said an observer.
Despite repeated attempts state BJP president Ravinder Raina did not pick up the phone.
