Killed militant had escaped from Batmaloo gunfight site: Police

Srinagar, Aug 29:  Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that one of the militants killed in Anantnag today had escaped from an earlier gunfight in Batmaloo area of Srinagar earlier this month.
Two militants, including top Hizb commander Altaf Ahmad Dar alias Kachroo of Hawoora, were killed in a gunfight with the forces today, police said. His associate was identified as Umar Rashid Wani of Khudwani Kulgam. “Altaf Ahmed Dar @ Kachroo @ Moin son of Late Gh. Mohammad Dar of Hawoora, Mishipora District Kulgam was currently operating as a one of the most important commanders of HM,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
He was considered as a long time surviving militant in the area.
